Asin Thottumkal,the Charming Beauty was born in Kochi and started her schooling in Naval Public School, Kochi. She has completed her B.A. English Literature at St. Teresa's College, Kochi. Before becoming an actress, she was a part-time model and a businesswoman.

Asin debuted in the Malayalam film Narendra Makan Jayakanthan Vaka in 2001, directed by Sathyan Anthikkad.Her breakthrough as an actress came with her first Telugu language film when she played the role of a Tamil girl in the successful Amma Nanna O Tamil Ammayi opposite Ravi Teja.

In the same year another film named Shivamani 9848022338 directed by Puri Jagannath was released in which Asin was the lead role. This film fetched a huge collections according to box office records. Asin also won an award as best actress from Santosham Magazine. Then Asin paired with Evergreen Hero Balakrishna in the film titled Laxmi Narsimha. But was an Average at the box office. In the same year Gharshana was released,in which Asin was paired up with Venkatesh.

Ghajini which was dubbed into telugu ,overshadowed the failure of Chakram as it was a huge hit . Actor Surya acted opposite to Asin in that film. She was also was also awarded a Filmfare for her great job in that film. Annavaram was released in the next year in which Asin was the lead heroine . She gave a good performance through the film .Power Star Pawan Kalyan was the Hero in this film . It was an average film according to box office financial records. Her movie Ghajini with Surya, which was released both in Tamil and Telugu, was a box office hit in both industries. She has become famous since then and went on to win the Filmfare Best Actress Award South for her role in Ghajini.

Kollywood beauty Asin made her debut in the Tamil film M Kumaran -Son Of Mahalaxmi which was a telugu remake of the film Amma Nanna O’ Tamil Ammayi. Jeyam Ravi was the her opposite to Asin.This film was a great success in film circle financially. The movie went on to be one of the biggest hits in 2004 and

introduced Asin to Kollywood. Next film was Ullam Ketkumae realesed in which Asin acted well. In the same year Asin acted in the films Ghajini and Majaa in
